We are uniquely able to use our classrooms to create separate safe spaces for multiple cohorts of students. We feel this is an opportunity to use our space better while creating more options for students and their families. Families can even choose for their student to attend 5 days a week in our Kindergarten Cohort- an often requested option we are excited to deliver this year!
When we re-open we will take health and safety very seriously.
We are planning to:
*Replace our MERV 13 furnace filter with an even higher rated filter–to ensure that all virus particles are also filtered out.
*Ensure both indoor classrooms have fans with HEPA filters.
*Have students bring their own snack in a plastic or glass container.
*Student work will be placed in individual plastic folders that will be hung on the walls for students to take from classroom to classroom.
*Follow all new sanitation guidelines.
~This new schedule will allow us to keep class/cohort sizes very small and reduce student exposure to additional people as well as reducing teacher exposure.
Teachers will build their cohorts based on creating cohesive classes as well as taking into consideration which other schools preschooler’s siblings attend. *since in years past we have had enrollees from Beaverton to Forest Grove and everywhere in between in the same class.* We also hope this will help students have a chance to make friends with classmates that they will attend Kindergarten with.
*MWF will be scheduled as shown below in the chart.
*Kindergarten cohort will meet 5 days a week during the time scheduled.
*Must be 5 years old on September 1st to enroll in Kindergarten cohort.
*Cohort of 8 students per preschool session. Kindergarten cohort will have 10 students.
*Siblings will attend the same cohort unless one sibling is enrolled in Kindergarten cohort.
*Staggered start times to allow for cleaning and traffic flow.
Each cohort of students as they move from Classroom A to Classroom B to Classroom C.
Students will be dropped off in the front classroom at the porch. Preschool students will be picked up from outside at the gate to the backyard.
Students will have free play time and painting opportunities in classroom A. Students will have snack and do their projects in Classroom B. Students will have outside play time and a Science or Nature based learning project/opportunity in Classroom C.
*shed will be converted into an indoor/outdoor classroom.
Stars- 8:00am-11:00am, Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays. Typical preschool class. Appropriate for 3-5 year olds. Due to the small class sizes curriculum/expectations will be adapted to be age/skill-level appropriate for each student. In addition to learning emerging academic skills students will also learn pro-social-emotional skills and have the opportunity to practice them in a variety of settings.
Hearts- 9:15am-12:15pm, Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays. Typical preschool class. Appropriate for 3-5 year olds. Diamonds- 10:30am-2:30pm- 5 days a week. This cohort is our Kindergarten class. This class is intended for children who are 5 years old on/before September 1st. This class will cover all typical kindergarten skills. By the end of the school year it is our goal that students will be meeting or exceeding Oregon Kindergarten Guidelines and standards- while having a ton of fun learning! Students will also have access to weekly music instruction in addition to typical songs and rhythm games. Students will get ample outdoor time and engage in structured gross-motor skills as well.
Children must be fairly reliably potty-trained and self sufficient in the restroom. This means able to recognize when they have to go to with enough time to get to the bathroom and able to use the toilet by themselves. Teachers will help with unfastening and refastening pants, hand-washing and occasional accidents.
